Other Solutions
Unfortunately, A Helping Hand’s computer assistants can only aid individuals in the Triangle area of North Carolina. While there aren’t programs similar to this in every part of the country, there are a good number that are also looking to aid older people with the process of understanding computers. Here are a few of them.
Celia Wirth & Associates: A business in Minnesota that offers computer assistance in the form of house visits and remote computer access, which allows them to work with people from all over the country who may not be near their offices.
AmeriHawk: A business in Colorado that offers one-on-one computer assistance to Seniors at a discounted rate.
Tech Senior: A company based in the Los Angeles area that offers in-home computer assistance and something they call theravisits. These theravisits consist of Tech Senior coming to the home/hospital of someone who is bed-ridden and connecting them via technology and the internet to their loved ones, such as in the form of video chats.
A Need for More
These programs do great work, but one problem that still remains is the fact that not all seniors are in an area where they can get a one-on-one style home visits for personalized help. To help create those types of programs in every part of the country, you can start by finding out if the Seniors in your hometown have any of type of computer assistance available to them. If not, you can contact a local group dedicated to serving the community and give them the idea to start a computer assistance program for Seniors.
Still want to do more on your own? If so, why not consider lending a hand?
